Road Trip to Boise!

On the 28th, we headed out on our way to Boise. Andrew has been accepted for the fall semester and wanted to attend New Student Orientation. We were able to spend the night at a friend's family that lived near there. I still marvel at how willing they were to take us in (even when we showed up at their place around midnight---when we said to expect us at 9pm) and how well they treated us, despite us being complete strangers.

The orientation started at 9:30am, and man was the campus big! We weren't able to tour it, or rather it was so hot that day we didn't want to bother :( But all the same, it was fun and definitely an eye-opener. We definitely weren't in Rexburg anymore! Lots of the people had tattoos, piercings, immodest clothing, a lot like the rest of the world (go figure!) But it did make me miss Rexburg. We were also the only couple that had a baby with us. I have always been happy to hear Bennett babble since he's pretty quiet, but it sure was awkward during the orientation! And of course during his feeding he had to burp the loudest and deepest he ever had before! Luckily people seemed to think it was cute. But still it felt a little awkward being around a group of people who weren't new parents. Rexburg has sort of spoiled me I suppose. Ironically Bennett was dressed in the school colors, but more by accident, but he got praised a few times.

On this trip, I did a few things I never had before. Like drinking from a corn cup. Some of you may have seen this before. But for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, its a regular plastic cup that happened to be made from corn...somehow. Its one of those recycled things. Its a little odd to tell you the truth, but hey whatever works. Another thing I have never done was buy gas on an Indian Reservation. Now I'm sure that's a pretty common thing out here in the West, but I'm an Eastern and couldn't tell you where the nearest one was. Its just not a common sight.

We aren't any closer to finding a job or apt either, which is a little disappointing, but we'll get one eventually and hope to move by July if possible. So say a prayer for us!

There are Indian Reservations in Western New York where the Iroquois Indians live. I know cause we would go to a gas station called Smokin' Joe's which is an Indian run station whenever our family went on a trip to see family there in Niagara. It's cheep gas, so it's great!
